What Is A Religion And Why Is Scientology A Religion?

Due to our track, past lives and this lifetime, it is more than understandable that you might have a button on “religion”. Even today, in the age of enlightenment, whole countries are put into ruins to get predominance for oil with a warmongering president openly confessing to Christianity and using that argument partially to motivate his citizens. No wonder a more or less educated person withdraws from that subject.

I compare religion with the upper part of the Know to Mystery Scale: Know about, Not know, Know – in which Know is highest. We all know about religion, and most of us don’t want to know about it anymore. And the next level is to know religion.

Let’s investigate the subject “Religion” with the Ten Commandments. You probably still know them. There is one very interesting commandment: “II. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.” Or more simply in German, “Du sollst dir von Gott kein Bildnis machen” (You shouldn’t make a picture of God.) But I dare to say almost everybody has some kind of a picture of “him”.

But what is God really? What did the original teacher want to communicate with the word “God”? I guess they had a hard time to communicate the concept because it was easier to say what God is not rather then say what God is.

You remember Axiom One? It is also explained more easily with what it is not. “A Life Static has no mass, no motion, no wavelength, no location in space or in time. It has the ability to postulate and to perceive.” (Axiom 1, Scientology 0-8)

Here is the definition of Static: “3. an actuality of no mass, no wave-length, no position in space or relation in time, but with the quality of creating or destroying mass or energy, locating itself or creating space, and of re-relating time. (Dn 55!, p. 29)

We can easily expand the definition of Static or God by saying it is not good, not bad, not big, not small, not ethical, not unethical, etc.

Although Static is defined by a lot of “no” it is still the source of all life and its components. But with our viewpoint of being a First Dynamic, involved in the 1st to 6th Dynamics we just try to give a mass to a significance we hardly can grasp.

Actually here we have the 8th Dynamic. And from there the game was started. From nothing, the 8th Dynamic, down the dynamics into the complex game we have today. From static we had to decide to be, 7th Dynamic, had to mock up some MEST to have a basis of a game, then we had to breathe life into the MEST and we got Lambda, Life Forms, and finally we got a species called Man.

By applying Scientology we exactly reverse that cycle. First we address someone’s First Dynamic, a good strong First Dynamic, then from there on up all the other Dynamics. We reconnect him on all Dynamics, or in other words we reconnect him with full life.

And this is why Scientology is a religion. And this is the basic definition of religion – to reconnect the being with full life.

[Derivation: from Latin religio (-onis) (religion), (piety), (conscientiousness), (scrupulousness), from religare (to bind back), re-, and ligare, (to bind), (to bind together).]

”Scientology is a religion in the oldest sense of the word, a study of wisdom. Scientology is a study of man as a spirit, in his relationship to life and the physical universe.

It is non-denominational. By that is meant that Scientology is open to people of all religions and beliefs and in no way tries to persuade a person from his religion, but assists him to better understand that he is a spiritual being…“ Mary Sue Hubbard, HCO PL 6 March 69.

When you investigate other religions, you recognize they have the same intention.

A high toned being is ethical (and moral) just as a natural virtue. But how to reach that goal when you have uneducated, uncivilized, barbaric tribes having about 20% of psychotic individuals amongst them? How to teach them what a static is? I don’t know exactly how I would do that, but it would end up with something like “If you want to reach static you have to be ethical. You shouldn’t do this and you should do that.” And far from the source intention it eventually becomes altered to “If you don’t confess to Christianity and pay us you will be burnt at the stake.” And so in the name of “God” you end up with a bloodthirsty inquisition going on.

As long as we have about 20% psychotics in our midst they will always apply technology fanatically and viciously – any kind of technology or religion, including Scientology.

And last but not least, here the words of LRH from HCO PL 12 Feb 69 Religion:

“The legal decisions handed down on Scn by US high courts uphold it as a religion.

It has never been anything else. It seeks Spiritual Freedom.

This may or may not be publicly acceptable. This is not the point. It is a requisite defense and it is true.”

Religion is today a bad argument to use in promotion. But we have to be aware that we are a religion in its truest sense. To advertise this is the wrong way, but never to say so is a lie too.

Much love
